African Bogolan Mud Cloth Fabric

By A Mystery Man Writer

Traditional African mudcloth fabrics are hand woven from cotton fibers and then dyed sometimes with mud or other natural paints.  Because they are made one at a time, no two pieces will ever be exactly alike.  Mudcloths can be used for clothing, home decoration (pillows, curtains, wall mural, or just throw it over a chair), crafts and others. They're great for clothing, home decoration, crafts and other creative pursuits. African artisans hand-dye symbols into these fabrics in order to tell stories of their villages and African proverbs. Mudcloth has a long tradition of being used by West African warriors and hunters to camouflage themselves. Mudcloths in some African tribes can only be worn by the royal family. Nowadays, people across the globe are wearing them to stand out and celebrate their connection to the African continent. Dimension: "Lapa" size. Approx. 38"
