Colorado Blue Spruce

By A Mystery Man Writer

Why it rocks:

Colorado Blue Spruce is a popular and sought-out evergreen accent tree for northern landscapes. The silvery-blue needles add interesting texture and color to the landscape providing a refreshing burst of color at otherwise colorless times of year. Blue Spruce is an extremely tough, rugged, and cold-hardy tree making it the preferred choice for windbreaks. The formal, pyramidal shape is familiar in the landscape adding a native look, as well as creating a focal point in the lawn.

Where to put it:

Great for privacy and accent, Colorado Blue Spruce adds an interesting texture to the landscape. This tree is extremely versatile and can be used along property lines, in windbreaks, in planting beds around the house, or in open areas of the lawn. Colorado Blue Spruce is a low-branched tree, so keep in mind that it will block the view of anything you put it in front of. This tree should be kept at least 15ft away from buildings.

What it needs:

Colorado Blue Spruce is a tough tree; however, it is best to avoid wet locations or heavy clay soil.
