The ECWCS Gen III Level 1 Thermal Underwear Set is the first base layer in the third generation ECWCS layering system concept, which has been actively used by the US Army since Afghanistan in late 2006. At the moment, the ECWCS Gen III system consists of 7 layers of clothing with a total weight of about 6 kg, which provides the fighter with maximum comfort in various climatic conditions at temperatures from -40 to + 16 ℃. The main purpose of the base layer of thermal underwear is to effectively wick sweat and moisture away from the body during intense physical activity. For this purpose, the US Army opted for the thin and smooth Polartec®Power Dry® Silkweight, a perfectly ventilated two-component material that, thanks to the capillary effect, absorbs moisture from the inside, and from the outside, it spreads it over the surface for the fastest evaporation, allowing the body to remain always dry. Dries 2 times faster than natural cotton. In addition, Polartec®Power Dry® yarns are treated with silver ions using Odor Resistant® technology, which guarantees reliable antibacterial protection and prevents unpleasant odors from clothes. Another difference between Polartec®Power Dry® is almost 100% protection against ultraviolet radiation (has an UPF50 + index), which allows this material to be used for long and safe sun exposure. Composition: 100% Polyester with a density of 125 g / m². The material is completely hypoallergenic. Design features of the base ECWCS Gen III Level 1 Polartec®Power Dry® thermal underwear: - flat, reinforced seams that do not cause discomfort when worn; - an additional hole on the sleeve for the thumb, which makes it easier to put on additional layers of clothing (for example, ECWCS Gen 3 Level 2) and can serve as protection for the back of the hand from wind or cold; - an elongated raglan back that protects the lower back from cold and wind when squatting, raising arms; - a wide elastic waist on the underpants, ensuring a snug fit of the raglan to the body; - codpiece made by transverse overlapping of two layers of the base material, which prevents chafing during prolonged movement in difficult terrain or, for example, during hand-to-hand combat or lunges; - can be washed in a washing machine, does not lose its properties and shape even after repeated washes; - can be used both independently and in combination with other layers of the ECWCS Gen3 system, not only in warm weather, but also all year round. The original ECWCS Gen III Level 1 Polartec®Power Dry® thermal underwear fulfills its functions not only as part of military equipment, but also ideal for use in mountaineering, trekking, hunting, fishing, camping and hiking.
