The South Gate or Sidhi Darwaza of the Taj Mahal complex directly faces the imposing Great Gate and stands in stark contrast to the East Gate and the West Gate. Positioned at a level slightly higher than the Jilaukhana, it is aligned in perfect symmetry to the Great Gate as well as the Taj Mahal. Its elevated position and the four ornamental pillars flanking it are some elements that distinguish it from the other entry gates. Just beyond the gates is the Taj Ganji, a bustling market that has existed since the time the monument was constructed.
